The last 4 years have been awesome and time has certainly flown past…FAST! Between growing Bespoke and juggling with family commitments, this blog has been totally neglected. During this time, the blog has been hacked and recovered multiple times. The last blog post was September 5th 2013, for crying out loud. It was turning in to a digital wasteland, hogging previous kilobytes on the interwebz.
About a month ago, I got a random email enquiry from a company needing some SEO help. I followed it up with a phone call and got chatting with the owner. He said that he found me through searching on Google, read some of my old stuff and liked what I wrote. I was flattered, of course. He actually found me through my “Apply the 6 W’s of Marketing to SEO” blog post of all things, which totally shocked me. After I helped him out over the phone, I checked Google Analytics which I have not logged in for ages. This is what I saw:
That post was the highest traffic driver to my blog. I was even surprised that the blog was even getting any traffic after neglecting it for good four years. Looking back at some of my older posts and seeing the comments, social shares and all the traffic that I have generated – gave me a kick on the bum. I started my blog to document, educate, build authority and help others. It was time to reignite the passion and dust off the cobwebs.
Since then, I have been busy giving the website a lick of paint. Gave the website and infrastructure an upgrade – moved hosting providers and finally transitioned the site to HTTPs. I even reignited my social profiles, created a new Facebook page (give me a like, will ya?), joined and contributed to a few Facebook groups and started tweeting again. Heck I even started posting on Linkedin. I figured with all the different things I have learned and read about over the years, it was time to put it to practice.
Being active on social media pays off, I was invited by SEMrush to join in on their 5th episode of “SEO Surgery India” which was an absolute privilege. I will be on a live webinar with two other SEO professionals auditing websites, tearing them apart and dropping knowledge bombs.
If you have nothing else better to do this Wednesday evening at 6.30pm (Melbourne, Australia), join us in the live webinar. It is going to be epic. Register here.
I am so re-energised that I am already planning for my next blog post. So stay tuned!
